Look for hazy sunshine and light westerly breeze for Clinigatta Day 2.   We’re hopeful that we can get in more good racing today.  As our coaches emphasized at the debrief last night, on a light wind day look for the puffs on the water and connect the dots!

I was pretty spent after those six races yesterday.  Refreshed and ready to roll today!

Six races are in the books.  What a first say of sailing at the 2025 Madison Clinigatta.  Partly cloudy skies and a fresh 7 -15 mph breeze made for some great close racing for 30 Flying Scots.  Challenging wind shifts and tight courses led to lots of lead changes.

Thanks Mad Sails and Ryan and Stacey for hosting a wonderful evening party.  Soul food, New England oysters, Wisconsin cheese, and desserts to die for.

See you all at Olbrich Park for Day 2.    Breakfast at 9.  Competitors Meeting at 9:30.  Wind should be a little lighter, but we’re looking to get in three or four races.

Debrief, awards, and Clinigatta raffle after sailing.  We’ll have plenty of sandwiches and beverages on hand when we get back to shore.

It’s still raining…. But there was plenty of food and beer at the game!

See you all in the morning. Weather looks great.   Breakfast at Olbrich Park 8:30 - 9:30.  Launch your boat early if you can.  Skippers meeting at 9:30.   First race at 10:30.  Lunch provided.   Party at Mad Sails at 6 p.m.

Quite the storm.   There’s no place like home….  We’re not in Kansas anymore!

Due to the rain, we are having an informal clinic at The Silver Eagle.

5805 Monona Dr, Monona, WI 53716

Please drop your boat off in the regatta parking at Olbrich Boat Launch and then join us at the Silver Eagle.

It’s Raining!  A bunch of us are at the SILVER EAGLE BAR ON MONONA DRIVE. David Ames is holding court.  Join us if you can!

Looks like the rain may move out around 3 p.m.  We’ll be back at Olbrich Park for a couple hours between 3 and 5 p.m. to help with rigging, registration, etc.

The MALLARDS GAME is still on (for now).  Keep tuned for updates.  The game is now a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m.  We have a covered party deck and our food/hospitality begins at 5:30.  Tickets will be available at Will-Call… if you don’t have a voucher from registration just tell them you are with the Lake Monona Sailing Club Clinigatta Event.   Again… stay tuned for weather updates.

If the game is rained out we will be going to Aubergine, 1226 Williamson St., Madison, WI.  It’s a large party space.  We’ll be providing all the food and beverages!  Come to the party… it’s included with your regatta registration.

Just a couple notes for tonight’s game. Due to last night’s Mallards road game being postponed because of rain, tonight’s home game will now be a double header! Your ticket will get you access to BOTH games! Below is the revised game schedule.

    • 3:45pm – Gates Open
    • 4:05pm – First Pitch for Game 1
    • Game 2 will begin 30 minutes after the completion of Game 1
    • Both games are 7 inning games, so the estimated end time of Game 2 should be comparable to the original schedule
    • We will still have Post game fireworks after game two
    • All hospitality service will still begin at the regularly scheduled time of 5:35pm and end at the usual time. You will have access to your space beginning at 3:45pm if you or any of your guests would like to come early, but food and beverage will not be available until 5:35pm.

Also, if you’ve been keeping your eye on the weather, you already know that the forecast looks a little iffy. As far as the game goes, our protocol is to always wait as long as possible to see if the conditions are still playable, so as of now the game is on! We rarely call a game prior to the scheduled first pitch since the weather in Wisconsin can be so unpredictable.

Mother Nature may be treating us all like DUCKS today.  On and off rain…not much breeze, and probably a few storms.   We’ll be at Olbrich Park setting up tents and helping competitors rig and tune boats from around 11 a.m. (maybe a bit earlier).

⚾️MALLARDS GAME TONIGHT.   Speaking of ducks, it’s still GAME-ON at the Duck Pond!  But, keep an eye on this Notice Board for updates.  We have a large covered area for our group at the stadium, so a little rain won’t stop our festivities. .  PICK UP A VOUCHER FOR YOUR GAME/PARTY TICKET AT REGISTRATION.   In the event of a rainout, we have an alternate event space reserved and will still provide food and beverages to all.
